INTRO TO UKELELE (Intermediate – Advanced) – Del Rey

Catch the ukulele bug. If you’re curious about this charming and addictive little instrument, come give it a try. Guitar players take to it in a minute. Other people might take two minutes.

WRITING A BLUES SONG (Intermediate – Advanced) – Del Rey

The blues is a foundation stone of popular songwriting-so how come the form is so often stereotyped and abused? In this class, we’ll listen to some of the great blues songwriters of the ’20s and ’30s, like Memphis Minnie, Walter Vinson and Thomas Dorsey. How do they combine personal detail and emotion with traditional images to make powerful songs? What are the structures and rhythms underpinning the forms of the blues? What are the great recurring themes and what do we have to add? Bring your instrument and a pen and paper.

BOSSA NOVA & SAMBA  - John Miller

In this two-part workshop, you’ll learn a variety of right hand rhythm patterns that will equip you to accompany bossas and sambas, and will learn a couple of songs that you can plug these patterns into and practice building your skills in these irresistible Brazilian styles.
